2012 D4D Olympics

Welcome to the 2012 D is for Doggy Olympics
Our dogs have been preparing all their lives for this moment, where they compete in a variety of activities such as running, barking, sleeping, speed eating, and many more exciting feats! We would like to share a few photos from the insanely adorable and entertaining competition!

A true athlete, Fred appears to be very serious and deep in thought. He must be going over all his training notes.

Rufus is also prepping by stretching his body.

Simon, too, stretches for his wrestling match against his fierce opponent, Tallulah.
And it's a pin for Simon! It was a tough match and lots of going back and fourth, but Simon managed to make out on top! Bringing in the gold for his fellow greyhounds. I'm sure those long legs really helped!

The rest of the dogs seem to have been very entertained with that last match, they are eagerly waiting for more.

BREAKING NEWS!
This just in, Rora the red, competing for team Golden Retrievers, has just won the gold medal for fastest dirt digger! An amazing triumph, really. Everyone banked on the Hounds taking this win.

Our cameras caught Bernie, practicing for his Hooooowwwwwl competition later that night. We haven't received the official word yet, but we are certain that Bernie took the gold for this one.

And last, but not least, in one of the most challenging events for our dogs, Mason and Mina compete in the Staring Competition. As you can imagine, this takes a lot of concentration, it can be very agonizing for our dogs.
Oh no! It looks like a tie! They both looked away at the same time, but definitely each gave it their best.

Well, our dogs are pooped, no pun intended, from the games. We'll leave them to take their much needed breaks and check back in with them later.

American Gothic Vizsla style?

Do you see a resemblance?

Foca and Enza doing their best Grant Wood's American Gothic impersonation! I don't know about you, but I think they nailed it!

In room 1...

Meet Diego. A dignified older gentleman who frequently stays with us. He refuses to part from his blanket.

This pretty little lady is Gia. Don't let her puppy-like looks fool you - she is almost a year old and fully grown!
Meanwhile, in room 3...

 ...It's nap time!

Big Friends

It's time to focus on some of our bigger friends: Say hello to four dogs from room 3!

Safi was hamming it up for the camera!

Foca looking regal as he watches his rambunctious sister (and friends) play.

It is hard to deny Gavin anything with that pleading expression.

Riley, a regular, wanted to show off his new summer 'do. What a handsome boy!

Okay, so this is a little dog from room 1, but how could I *not* include this photo?! Please welcome Luna, a stunning newcomer to D is for Doggy.

Doggie See Doggie Do

I'm sure we've all had our moments where we've caught our silly pups doing very human like things. Maybe sometimes a little too human like....

Little Chloe looks like she's got the couch potato look down pack all she needs now is maybe a bag of chips and a remote. Hmm I wonder what she's pretending to watch.

Silly Simon just because you wear a person hoodie just like a human doesn't necessarily make you one, silly pooch. He said his excuse was to try and pretend to be a handler for the day.

Andrey's been watching the handlers walk around the room and thinks walking on all fours is a bit too boring for her.

Now this is interesting, Roxie likes to show that not just humans but doggies can use today's electronics too. She works the phone and kindle fire like a true pro.

Hey every human likes a little bling bling in their life so why wouldn't our poochies? Just look at these lovely ladies in their fancy necklaces.

Our pups never cease to amaze us, lol.

It's Super Hero Time

Look to the sky! It's Kung Pow Chickie!

    No not literally!

Her super powers include:
  •  power naps
  • super smell to find food miles away
  • eating a whole jar of treats in less then a minute flat!

Her favorite quote is:

"It's my duty to keep the bad guys at bay!
For its Kung Pow Chickie here to save the day!"
Her Poochie Ka Pow packs quite the punch.
 Don't underestimate this little lady.

The day is gone and so is Kung Pow Chickie. Who knows what other hero lays about here at D is for Doggy? Only time will tell. But one thing is for certain a hero must ALWAYS conceal their true identity. Right, Elie? *wink*
